Bags of the Week: Exotic Skins

Welcome to the latest edition of Baghunter’s Bags of the Week, where we select three bags which share a theme and place them under the spotlight. With the news of an exotic skin Hermes Birkin selling at auction for over $400,000, we thought it would be a good time to focus on exotic skin handbags. We have a real treat with three wonderful bags featuring this week – a Hermes Birkin 25 Fuchsia Lizard, Hermes Birkin 35 Crocodile Black, and a Hermes Birkin 35 Alligator Mais. Hermes Birkin 25 Fuchsia Lizard

First up is a stunning Hermes Birkin 25 Fuchsia Lizard which is incredibly difficult to find anywhere else. Hermes Birkin 35 Crocodile Black

Next up is one of the most striking bags we have here at Baghunter – a Hermes Birkin 35 Crocodile Black. This bag is crafted from Porosus crocodile, an exotic skin known for its unique qualities and stunning appearance. The shiny finish on the skin makes this bag glow and shine under any light, while the unique scales of the crocodile ensure there is no other bag in the world exactly like this one. Among the rarest Hermes Birkin bags in the world, features to notice on this bag include the size of the scales as they are larger in the center and smaller at the sides of the bag.

Helping to accentuate the appearance of the bag is the gold hardware which works perfectly with the shiny noir crocodile skin. The gold hardware is found in several places on the bag including the clasp, lock, and base studs, helping to protect the material at the bottom of the bag. The handles are designed to withstand heavy use and should remain standing upright regardless of use or positioning. Hermes Birkin 35 Alligator Mais

Rounding off this week’s edition of Bags of the Week is a special Hermes Birkin 35 Alligator Mais. This incredibly rare exotic skin bag is crafted from matte alligator skin, one of the most beautiful in the Hermes range. The skin has been dyed a light mais color, a process which is incredibly difficult to achieve. This light color is perfect for daywear, especially during the summer months. As you can see in the picture below, the unique scales on the bag are larger in the center of the bag and gradually get smaller at the sides.

The hardware on the bag is made from the durable and scratch resistant palladium material. The color of the palladium works perfectly with the light mais color of the skin and complements it at the clasp, lock, and on the base studs. The handles of the bag are stiffened to ensure they maintain their shape and durability during use. Another feature of the bag is the delicate stitching found at the sides and around the lock. Each stitch has been done by hand with precision and expertise.

Measuring 14” x 11” x 7”, this size 35 bag is ideal for carrying more than just the bare essentials. The side panels of the bag are flexible to allow you to place extra items inside without disturbing the shape of the bag. Acquired in excellent condition, there are two light marks on the front of the bag which are visible in the pictures, otherwise the bag is pristine.
